New Book: The Juvie Three

I have recently started The Juvie Three by Gordan Korman.  I am currently in the exposition.  It is about three boys Gecko Fosse, Terence Florian, and Arjay Moran.  They wee all in juvie for different reasons, but Douglas Healy gets them out in a program that is an experimental half-way house in New York City.  Gecko was a getaway driver for his brother, Arjay accidentally killed someone when he punched them because they hit their on a statue, and Terence was part of one of the worst gangs in Chicago.

Even though they seem bad, even Terence, who is actually bad, isn't that bad.  I think that this is big in the story that you can't just judge from the outside and that you have to look at the inside and see the real person.  This is a kind of mini-theme in the book.

I just read a part that is very climactic.  Terence tries to run away to steal from a shop when Gecko and Arjay try to stop him.  This wakes up Healy and there is a scuffle on the fire-escape.  This results in Healy falling three stories down and becoming unconcious.  They take him to the hospital, but he doesn't wake up.  When he finally wakes up he has amnesia and can't remember anything.  This gets them in big trouble while they try to hide the fact of what happened to Healy from responsible authorities.

They are afraid of being sent back to juvie and pretend as if he never left.  I think that this is a bad idea and that it's better to just tell someone than to have them find out later and get into even more trouble.
