Hoods on

I read an article on the Trayvon Martin case (http://www.cnn.com/2012/03/27/justice/florida-teen-shooting/index.html?hpt=hp_t1) that has been sweeping the nation resulting in protests around the country.  The case is about a seventeen year old African American boy who was shot by a white man named George Zimmerman.  Many are calling it a hate crime and a case of racial profiling by the self-appointed "nightwatchman".  Protests have been sweeping the nation including slogans such as "Justice for Trayvon" and "I am am Trayvon".  Also, people have been wearing hoodies and sharing pictures of themselves wearing hoodies in acknowledgement as well as carrying skittles at protests.  This incident has raised questions of racism and the "Stand Your Ground" law that exists in Florida which allows you to use of deadly force anywhere a person feels a reasonable fear of death or serious injury.

This article explains how injustice and racism caused this deadly incident as well as how this has brought people together in protest of this unfair incident.  The author didn't really give us his/her opinion, nut just told us the events that happened.  It explained how people were protesting and how the parents of Trayvon felt.

I feel that this was a case of racial profiling and this type of stuff needs to be prevented in the future.  It is really disappointing that this is still happening in our country after a racial struggle so many years ago.  This should be a once in a blue moon event and Zimmerman should be a needle in a haystack.  There is no room for racism in our society with all of the other problems that we have going on and this is disgusting.  We should all protest this shameful act and make sure that it is known in our society that this is not tolerated.
