I believe that this reiterates the mini theme that its alright to rely on others and that you can go to others to help. I think that more people should get this message and help it change their life.
Also, I think that there is a part that I read today that shows that he is trying to escape depression and is making progress. On page 160 the voice in his head says,
"Who's worse, soldier, you or him?
Dunno, sir!
It's a trick question, soldier.
Well, him, obviously. I mean I'm sitting here lounging; he's practically dying out there."
I think this means that he is making progress on his depression because he is thinking about other people and how much worse their situation is. But, then he lets you down,
"I expected more from you, son.
How?
You're a smart kid. You should be able to see when somebody's faking. And soldier-
Yes.
-Good job out there. I'm glad you're still on board.
I don't feel any better.
Life's not about feeling better; it's about getting the job done.
I think that he is getting closer to beating his depression and he is just one step away. Keep fighting Craig!
I totally agree! I really didn't think about the mini theme that it's alright to rely on others when I read it. Nice job!
